Nowadays more than ever, museums, art galleries and theatres need to put their messages across to foreign visitors. I’m delighted to visit them because the arts are among my great interests and I’m also very pleased when these interests coincide with my work. Fortunately for me, that happens quite often, as a good part of my work involves art of one kind or another. My interest in the area has also led me to attend a short course in translating art offered by the organisation Mediterranean Editors and Translators.

My regular customers in this area include several museums, such as the Museu de l’Empordà, and the La Pedrera Foundation, which looks after one of Gaudí’s best-known works. I have recently translated a book on Catalan Art Nouveau style buildings in Barcelona and a play for the Titzina theatre company.

Simon Berrill has been working with Cossetània Edicions for some time and the books on tourism which he translates into English help put across the city's exciting cultural heritage to its visitors."
